Greater Wenatchee Arbor Day to be celebrated April 13

The power of trees will be celebrated with Arbor Day seedling tree distributions in five communities on April 13.

The Wenatchee celebration is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Park Ice Rink. In addition to a selection of seedlings for home gardeners, the event will include displays by Master Gardeners and certified arborists. Chelan County PUD, a co-sponsor of the event, will offer tips on planting the right tree in the right place, with emphasis on how to plant correctly near power lines.

Other seedling distributions scheduled for the day are:

Volunteers are needed to help pack trees for distribution from 4-9 p.m. at the Wenatchee Ice Rink on Monday, April 11. High-school students and adults are welcome.

Other local Arbor Day sponsors include Ballard Ambulance, Cascade Auto Center, city of Wenatchee, C&O Nursery, Pepsi, Van Well Nursery and The Wenatchee World.
