Power outages planned today in Entiat Valley and Crum Canyon

Chelan County PUD
News Release
1/7/2005

Chelan County PUD customers in Crum Canyon and in the Entiat Valley will be without power for about a half-hour today, Friday, Jan. 7.

The power outage in Crum Canyon, about five miles up the Entiat Valley, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today. The Entiat Valley outage is set for 1 p.m. today. Each outage will last about 30 minutes.

PUD crews will transfer electric load for the dozen or so homes in Crum Canyon to a power line with more capacity. The work is being done to ease demand on another line before the arrival of a cold snap forecast for next week.

That work is related to the outage scheduled in the Entiat Valley today at 1 p.m. PUD crews will replace a voltage regulator there. Power will be out from about 12 miles up the canyon to the end of the line, affecting about 150 customers.

District staff is attempting to contact as many customers as possible before the outage and apologize for the inconvenience.

Weather forecasts call for temperatures dipping to zero or slightly below by Wednesday of next week.
