Volunteer Camp Host
1. General Information:
- Volunteers should possess strong communication skills.
- Volunteers report to the Chelan County PUD parks supervisor.
- This is a part-time, volunteer position. The Campground Host is not a Chelan County PUD employee, is excluded from the bargaining unit and is not eligible for any benefits.
2. Volunteer functions:
- Volunteers are responsible for maintaining a daily log of activities that occur in the campground to report to park staff.
- Volunteers must possess a general understanding of the park rules and regulations.
- Volunteers must be familiar with the location of all sites and the fees associated with their rental.
- Volunteers should make camp rounds and report any condition affecting guest safety, necessary repairs or malfunctioning equipment to the park foreman.
- Volunteers should observe camp activities and communicate with the park foreman. Volunteers should perform the duties and service as described in the Volunteer Service Agreement.
- Volunteer services should be provided for a minimum of 4 hours per day or 28 hours per 7-day week, spread over at least 5 days, to receive a waiver of campsite/ moorage fees.
- Volunteers should inspect the campground and day use area for litter.
- Work well with campers, staff, merchant patrol and other county entities.
- Project a positive and courteous image.
3. Physical requirements:
- Volunteers should be physically able to perform the functions listed above and outlined in the Volunteer Service Agreement. These functions may require periodic bending, stooping, lifting and twisting. Volunteers should inform the District of any health conditions that may exist that may affect the volunteers’ ability for complete these functions.
4. Minimum application requirements:
- A background check will be required of all volunteers prior to application approval.
- All volunteers must possess a valid driver’s license.
- All volunteers must be proficient in English and posses the ability to read and write in English.
- All volunteers must complete and submit an application and execute an individual volunteer service agreement.
5. NO EMPLOYEMENT:
- Chelan PUD again emphasizes that all campground hosts are volunteers. Nothing in the volunteer service agreement, the application or these guidelines constitutes employment agreement or creates an employment relationship between Chelan County PUD and the volunteer(s). These guidelines are subject to change as the needs of the District change.
