Joint contract for Riverside Drive work to save money
Chelan County PUD
News Release
3/9/2009
At today’s meeting commissioners:
- Joined the city of Wenatchee’s bidding process for prep work needed for moving power poles and installing underground lines as part of construction of the new Riverside Drive. The move is expected to save money and improve coordination of the road and utility work. Construction of the new route between Fifth and Ninth streets is expected to start in April.
- Granted a permit to the city of Wenatchee to allow the Wenatchee Row and Paddle Club to use a city owned building on PUD property near Ninth Street and Walla Walla Avenue for boat storage. The five-year permit also covers the club’s use of the Lindston Barn in Walla Walla Point Park for boat storage and a path from the barn to the river for an annual fee of $2,240, plus maintenance costs.
- Renewed a contract with the federal Department of Agriculture for crews to catch pikeminnow and control birds that feed on young salmon and steelhead migrating past Rocky Reach and Rock Island dams. The 2009 contract calls for adding another boat and three-person crew for pikeminnow fishing. Last year the crews removed some 42,000 pikeminnow from the reservoirs. Costs for services including bird hazing and nuisance animal removal are not to exceed $406,000.
