Malaga Substation work to require power outage on Oct. 17

Chelan County PUD
News Release
10/9/2009

Necessary utility work at the Malaga Substation will require a power outage from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 17. More than 1,000 Chelan County PUD customers will be affected, from the Apple Yard in south Wenatchee to the Tarpiscan area at the eastern edge of the county.

Some customers will be completely without power during the outage. Other customers will still have power that is rerouted from another substation, and they will be asked to conserve during the outage by delaying laundry, not using automatic dishwashers and the like.

Those customers who will be completely without power are in an area from the Apple Yard on Wenatchee Avenue east along the Malaga Highway all the way to the Tarpiscan including:

Other customers on Stemilt Creek Road, Upper Stemilt Creek Road, Wenatchee Heights and the north portion of Blair Slack Road will be asked to conserve on power use during the outage period.

The outage is necessary so PUD crews can work as quickly and as safely as possible and keep the outage time to a minimum. They will be testing and maintaining equipment in
the substation before storm season arrives for reliable service through the winter and will also improve the connection from the substation to KB Alloys.
