Start a SNAP Program at Your Utility

The SNAP name and logo are registered trademarks of Chelan County PUD but are available for use by other entities. We simply ask that you follow some basic guidelines to protect the SNAP concept, which is to support local production of renewable energy for local consumption.

The PUD started SNAP in 2001. Our customers had asked for the option to purchase energy from alternative sources. The state now requires the PUD to offer customers the option to purchase such energy. Other utilities offering a SNAP program include Okanogan and Ferry county PUDs in Washington, and the public utilities in Fairbanks and Homer, Alaska.

We’re happy to share information and materials as you start your own green-power program. Here’s how to get started:

On this page you'll also find links (in box at right) to samples of materials used in our own customer outreach efforts. Before using our information and materials, please go to the "Agreement" referenced above and complete the online registration form.
