Starting Monday, Chelan PUD will convert two of the four tennis courts at Walla Walla Point Park into six new pickleball courts.
“We listened to many parks visitors who expressed support for pickleball, and we felt that the time was right to provide dedicated courts for this growing sport,” said Parks Manager Ryan Baker.
The $228,000 maintenance project also includes resurfacing the courts for safety, quality and longevity. The courts will remain closed Aug. 15 through September to allow the new concrete to cure.
Tennis courts will remain open at several parks in the vicinity, including: Confluence State Park, Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park, Lincoln Rock, Daroga State Park, Beebe Bridge Park and Chelan Falls Park. Visit chelanpud.org/parks for details.
