Methow Street Reconductor Project - Summer 2023

Electrical upgrades along Methow Street in Wenatchee started in late June

WHAT: Chelan County PUD is performing electrical upgrades on the wood poles and overhead power lines along the East & West side of Methow Street - between the intersection with Saddlehorn Avenue, south to the intersection with Squilchuck  Rd. All work will be done in the right-of-way. The work is needed to upgrade aging equipment and maintain reliable electric service.
WHEN & WHAT TO EXPECT:
  • Work on the project began in late June and is expected to continue through the end of August.
  • Working hours are generally Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • We anticipate periodic, one-lane, flagger-controlled traffic throughout the duration of the project. Please watch for signage in the area.
  • All existing poles in the project area will be replaced with new poles.
  • Five additional poles will be placed in the middle section of the project.
  • New holes will be dug near existing poles, new poles will be set and new wiring will be hung.
  • Landscaping that is blocking access to electrical equipment (poles/vaults) and is in the public right-of-way will be permanently removed. We do not expect to disturb landscaping on private property.
  • Crews will restore the area at the base of the new poles to improve aesthetics.
  • Old poles will be removed after communications wires are transferred to the new poles.
  • After old poles are removed, PUD crews will restore the area to improve aesthetics.
  • Transferring wire, removing old poles and restoring the area around the base of the poles should be complete by the end of the year.
  • Power outages may be needed. Affected customers will be notified prior to any outages.
