Temporary Construction Service Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to ensure there are no issues with your temporary service or trench.  The PUD is here to serve you, enhance your experience, and minimize installation delays.

Application for service can be made online at www.chelanpud.org/newservice, by mail at PO Box 1231, Wenatchee, WA 98807 or in person at:        

• Through September 2023 at 327 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee (Service Building – behind the main building).
• Beginning in October 2023, at the PUD’s New Service Center at 203 Olds Station Road, Wenatchee (follow the PUD’s website at www.chelanpud.org for the New Service Center grand opening date).

Early application and information promotes a stream-lined installation.

Application prior to temporary service will become a requirement on January 1, 2024.  We encourage you to use this process earlier.   

Yes, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries must inspect and approve your temporary meter base prior to the PUD energizing your service.   Contact Washington State Department of Labor and Industries at (509) 886-6500 for more information.  

Temporary service approvals are valid for one (1) year.

Customers must follow PUD Regulation 43 related to temporary service found here.  Temporary service is for construction use only.   As a reminder, temporary service is not to be used for RV sites, job shacks with living quarters, pump services or other non-construction uses.

When a temporary meter is installed, your service should be ready to use.   If you experience any issues, please check your main breaker.  Upon energization, you will begin to receive a monthly bill for service.  If you are not onsite and would like to know the status of installation, please contact (509) 661-4325 option 2.

Installation of your temporary service will be coordinated with the completion of the line extension.

Property owners who request service need to fill out an application.  Application for service can be made online at www.chelanpud.org/newservice or in person at 327 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee.  If your contractor is paying for your temporary service, please have them fill out the Contractor Temporary Service Application found here.

Once your application has been received and reviewed, a PUD Customer Service Engineer will work with you to best determine the location for your temporary service.
