This webpage is intended to provide information on how Chelan County PUD responds to ground movement affecting utility services in Chelan County. This information should not be relied on for safety purposes. Please contact Chelan County for more information on your safety or slope stability.
Chelan County PUD works with Chelan County Public Works when identified ground movement occurs. As situations develop, the PUD reviews data, often provided from geotechnical data, visual inspections or otherwise to consider if utility infrastructure is at risk. This information is then used to determine if services should remain active or if service should be disconnected.
For example, the Whispering Ridge area is one such area that has had ground movement and may continue to experience ground movement. As of April 8, 2016 electric service has been restored to all but three residences. Five water customers remain without service, and the PUD is investigating whether or not there is the potential to restore water service to some or all of these homes. Currently, there is no water being provided to two fire hydrants above the PUD’s water pump station. Those fire hydrants that are out of service are bagged, and the fire department has been notified.
